VLZ-P-004
Project Kaiser
Bought for its interior and its straight body, because the engine was always going to be replaced.
Vehicle Lab Zone directs complete vehicle projects — from the first brief and technical specification to parts curation, build oversight and final validation.
Led by Vishant Selvarajah in Malaysia. Built with specialist partners, including USJ 4x4.
The relationship
Vehicle Lab Zone leads the brief, the specification and the project decisions. USJ 4x4 provides specialist fabrication, mechanical, wiring, assembly and testing capability where it is the right partner for the work. Other specialists are brought in where their capability is the right fit.
The two businesses work closely. They have distinct responsibilities, and they are quoted separately.
Selected projects
Each project records what the vehicle was, what it needed to become, what was decided by system, what was traded away, and what was deliberately left alone.

VLZ-P-004
Bought for its interior and its straight body, because the engine was always going to be replaced.

VLZ-P-001
An Arena Red 993 Carrera 4S, nine of ten built. On a car this rare, the default answer to any change is no.

VLZ-P-002
A 4.8 V8 Cayenne GTS, stripped for bodywork, with a wheel and tyre choice that changes how the vehicle behaves.

VLZ-P-003
A full set of composite bodywork, assessed before anything was fitted.
How the work is done
Not every decision on a project is about the car. This one is about how parts get bought, and it changes what a project costs more than most engineering choices do.
Sourcing
Charge a fixed rate for sourcing, and pass parts through at what they cost.
Finding parts for a vehicle that is twenty or thirty years old means going from the chassis number to a part number to an original-equipment supplier. Part numbers are not a secret and prices are published. A margin on a part that has to be ordered in anyway is a charge for nothing.
Means the parts schedule can be built on what is actually right for the vehicle, rather than on what is profitable to supply.
Where something is genuinely in stock locally and available immediately, paying a premium for that is reasonable, and I will say so.
Capabilities
Turning an intention into a brief that can be built from.
Establishing what the vehicle actually is, before it is committed to.
Deciding every system against every other system.
Choosing components, and the strategy for obtaining them.
Sequencing, staging, partner selection and control during execution.
Assessing a project that has stalled, overrun or gone in the wrong direction — and finding the route out.
Process
Direction is paid for in stages, and each stage produces something you keep. You are never asked to commit to a full project on the strength of a conversation.
Whether this is a project I should take. No charge.
The first real assessment, in person or remote. From RM160, depending on scope and the time required.
The documents the whole project runs from.
Through execution to a finished vehicle.
This enquiry is for owners planning a serious project, or trying to recover one. Share the vehicle, its condition, the intended use, your constraints, a budget range and your timing.
It is not a quotation, and physical work is priced separately by whoever carries it out. If Vehicle Lab Zone is the right fit, the next step is a paid consultation, from RM160.
